Then turned crankshaft until #1 piston (front cylinder?) was on compression stroke and then lined up the 10 degree timing mark with the notch in the crankshaft pulley. Is this the right method for point timing? I turned crankshaft until the red finger was hitting on of the lobes. Im running out of ideas and was hoping a few of you might have some suggestions of things to look at. There is about 120 psi in each cylinder so that seem good. I tried a bit of starting fluid both in the plug holes and the air intake with no results. The lift pump is working and gas is getting up to the carberator. I have reset the timing 3 times with no results. It now has new points, condenser, plugs and coil and it gets good spark. He said he drove it into his garage and it never started after that. I for some reason agreed to look at a friends 154 Gas tractor.
